Bunnyconnellen gains five medals at the 2009 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show

Hot off the press, we are delighted to announce our having won five Bronze medals at this years Sydney Royal Fine Food Show. Our new 'Dorsetshire' table olives, marinated in a spicy and tangy liquor, were amongst those awarded. A big thank you to the most discerning judges, our girl 'oliveers' that lovingly create and pack our products and to Janie the company muse. These awards are the icing on top of the Gold Vogue magazine medal achieved earlier in the year. Happy Days!

Produce awards – winners and medal lists announced

The winners of the 2009 Vogue Entertaining + Travel Produce Awards were announced last night in a star-studded event held at Justin North’s renowned restaurant, Etch by Bécasse.

Queensland based and winners of 16 medals at the prestigious Sydney Royal Fine Food Show, Peter and Janie Simmonds, of Bunnyconnellen Olive Grove & Vineyard at Crow’s Nest made the journey to Sydney to accept the Gold Medal award in the company of other producers and winners from around the country.

Past Events

The Idea of North

The Idea of North - a cappella voice in the vineyard

We did it, and what an exceptionally professional, fun and entertaining performance. The weather was outstanding, the wine chilled, picnic hampers in abundance, Chipironi coffee to die for (well perhaps not) and Janie's Bush Curry sold out - how good is that? Thank you to all of you that made the effort to join us and of course to our performers, an amazing performance, well done.

Three's No Crowd - Traditional jazz in the vineyard

A group of sound local musicians devoted to the Toowoomba jazz scene. Led by Paul Hendon on the clarinet. They have performed on a number of occasions and have never failed to impress.

Humphrey Bogart

Ric's Flicks - Movie in the vineyard

Massive screen, balmy night, chilled wine and movie food - what can we say. A great turn out and sponsored by the local chapter of the Queensland Arts Council.

Chris Ganzer

Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Cheese Making Masterclass

Peter teamed with Chris Ganzer from Kingaroy Cheese and presented a whole day dedicated to cheese, olive oil, and table olives. Participants were rewarded with a sumptuous luncheon in the cellar door accompanied by estate wines and some hands on cheese making. "Sensational an experience not to be missed" declared Aaron one of the eager participants.

Saruzu Quartet

Paris Dreaming

Saruzu Quartet – Argentinean Flamenco and Jazz accompanied by Paris Dreaming

"A fiery flamenco-tango-jazz ensemble, The Saruzu Quartet's interpretation of the rich harmonies of Argentine tango, the wild improvisations of gypsy jazz and the fire and grace of flamenco, is exhilarating.  Evocative of a 1920's Paris cafe scene filtered through an edgy and contemporary sensibility, The Saruzu Quartet is a celebration of the musical passions of its members - renowned violinist Luke Moller, sensual flamenco dancer & fiery percussionist Simone Pope, ferociously cool jazz bass player Andrew Shaw and laid back guitar virtuoso Andrew Veivers. This group filled the stage and held the audience in a trance - outstanding performers, thank you.

Paris Dreaming are Ewan Mackenzie and Kay Sullivan - they play acoustic guitar and accordion in French Gypsy Swing style, evoking the atmosphere of the Paris café scene of the 20th Century. Their music ranges from Musette waltzes to Gypsy tunes, from American swing standards to their own self-penned compositions. An evening with Ewan and Kay is a journey through some of the most romantic and delightful music ever written, played by virtuoso musicians with passionate intensity and dash of humour.
